Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a tax reform package that dismantles sound, long-standing energy tax credits. If enacted as written, this bill will weaken the reliability of our power system, raise electricity costs, and kill tens of thousands of jobs. These tax credits are currently driving massive investments in advanced energy technologies across the country. Last year alone, the advanced energy industry added over 50 gigawatts of new capacity to the U.S. grid, generated $400 billion in domestic revenue, and sparked a resurgence in American manufacturing. The fight now moves to the Senate, which can take a different path and restore certainty for the companies, workers, and communities building our energy future. There’s too much at stake to allow short-term politics to derail long-term progress. Let’s work together to get this right.

The PJM electricity market faces a capacity shortfall due to rising demand and a slow and inefficient interconnection process. As millions of people across the region face rate hikes due to this capacity shortfall, the states that are part of the PJM market are seeking new ways to take action to help keep power affordable and reliable. On our blog, United’s Chloe Holden outlines three market-ready, non-gas tools that can help expand generation, transmission, and distribution system capacity at a low cost in PJM states. Read more.>
Distributed energy resources (DERs)—like rooftop solar, battery storage, electric vehicles (EVs), and heat pumps—are transforming the grid from the bottom up. But while adoption surges, too many projects are stuck in limbo, unable to get energized due to systemic delays, unpredictable costs, and fragmented interconnection processes. In our latest webinar, we explored barriers across the full DER landscape and revealed findings from our recently released report Breaking the Bottleneck: Industry Insights on Barriers to DER Adoption.
